Gößnitz [Udtale: gœsnɪt͡s] er den befolkningsmæssigt mindste og arealmæssigt næstmindste by i Altenburger Land i Thüringen. Den landsby er især kendt for jernbaneknudepunktet for togforbindelsen Leipzig–Hof og den Midt-Tyskland-forbindelse samt det årlige Gößnitz Open-Air, der finder sted siden 1993. Byen oplevede sin største blomstring i industrialiseringens tid, så den repræsentative malzfabrik Viktor Grimms efterfølgere fra 1889 præger stadig bybilledet.
Gößnitz er den østligste by i Thüringen og den sydligste i Altenburger Land. Gennem byen flyder Meerchen, som i syd munder ud i Pleiße, og stedet ligger i overgangsområdet fra Erzgebirgsvorland til Leipziger Tiefebucht.
