Gunzenhausen er en by i den midtfranskiske kommune Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen. Den statsligt anerkendte ferieby ligger ved Altmühlsee. Med cirka 16.000 indbyggere er Gunzenhausen den næststørste, med et areal på 82,73 kvadratkilometer den tredje største kommune i distriktet.
Gunzenhausen ligger i den nordvestlige del af kommunen Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen i regionen Vestmidtfranken, midt i det franske søland og sydøst for Altmühlsee på en højde af 416 m over havets overflade, i den sydøstlige del af Frankenhöhe. Denne danner mod nordvest et bredt område, der blødt hælder mod sydøst. Klipperne i undergrunden stammer fra den mellemliggende Keuper-tid. Sydøst og øst for området omkring Gunzenhausen rejser Jura-bjergene i Franconian Alb sig, f.eks. Hahnenkamm.
