Remiremont Kloster var et benediktinerkloster. Det blev grundlagt omkring 620 af Romaric, en herre ved hoffet hos Chlothar II. På et senere tidspunkt blev de benediktinske nonner erstattet af et kapitel af 98 kanonisser, der måtte bevise 200 års adel. I det 17. århundrede faldt damerne i Remiremont så meget væk fra den oprindelige monastiske regel, at de tog titlen som grevinder, afgav deres løfter og giftede sig.
