Rennes er en fransk kommune, beliggende i departementet Ille-et-Vilaine og i regionen Bretagne. I 2012 havde den 209.860 indbyggere og der var 63.000 studerende. Den 24. januar 2008 godkendte byrådet charteret Ya d'ar brezhoneg. I begyndelsen af skoleåret 2007 var 2,8% af eleverne i kommunen indskrevet i den to-sprogede folkeskole.
