Rennes è un comune francese, situato nel dipartimento di Ille e Vilaine e nella regione della Bretagna. Nel 2012 contava 209.860 abitanti e c'erano 63.000 studenti. Il 24 gennaio 2008 il consiglio comunale ha approvato la carta Ya d'ar brezhoneg. All'inizio dell'anno scolastico 2007 il 2,8% degli alunni del comune erano iscritti alla scuola primaria bilingue.
