Garonne er den største flod i Sydvestfrankrig. Den udspringer i de spanske Pyrenæer som Garona og strømmer ind i Frankrig nær Bagnères-de-Luchon. Via Saint-Gaudens når den Toulouse. Garonne, som endnu ikke er sejlbar, bliver tilgængelig for skibsfart fra og med her til Castets-en-Dorthe via Canal Latéral à la Garonne, der løber parallelt med floden og forbinder med Bordeaux. Via Canal du Midi er der en forbindelse til Middelhavet.
Fra Bordeaux, der har en stor havn, er Garonne også sejlbar for havskibe. Lige forbi Bordeaux, ved "Bec d'Ambès", samles Garonne med Dordogne for at danne estuaret af Gironde. Dette næsten 100 km lange og op til 10 km brede tragtudløb munder ud i Atlanterhavet ved Royan.
