The unfortified sandstone nave and portal of Saint Nicolas church appear to date from the early 16th century. In the 1580s, a brick fort was built above the choir, accessed by a staircase in the wall. The church is unique in that it has no steeple and its keep is in the choir. Nota Bene: A vast 50 m² refuge room, now closed to the public, is accessible via a very narrow staircase built into the wall behind the altar!
The church holds a secret... that of its eyelid-beating statue of the Virgin Mary. Since the 1950s, more than 1,000 faithful have witnessed the phenomenon...
As you walk around the beautifully flowered cemetery, you can admire the Oise Valley below.
