Sektoren la Haute-Cize ligger i et Natura 2000-område, som tildeler det en vigtig rolle i bevarelsen af nogle bemærkelsesværdige fuglearter. Mangfoldigheden af levesteder mellem Pic d'Herrozate og Forêt d'Orion, en omfattende mørk bøgeskov i en smal dal, gør det muligt at nyde nogle af skattene fra Baskerlandet i fulde drag. I skoven bør man altså holde øje med den prestigefyldte spættefamilie, der især repræsenteres af hvidrygget spætte. Der er faktisk ikke rigtige stier, hvor man kan udnytte dette område fuldt ud, bortset fra stien mellem landsbyen Béhérobie og Col d'Erozate, som dog har næsten 700 m højdeforskel. Der er dog nogle skovveje i skoven.
