Det er her i Rue Daubigny, at Vincent Van Gogh sidst satte sit staffeli for at skabe sit maleri "Trærods". Allerede i 1882 lavede Van Gogh adskillige tegninger af sorte, grumpy rødder, om hvilke han skrev til sin bror Theo, at han ønskede at udtrykke livets kamp. Van Gogh Museum anerkender en lignende symbolik i dette maleri Trærods, som Van Gogh malede otte år senere, lige før sin død.
Dette sted er ikke åbent for offentligheden. Men fra gamle fotografier var det muligt at bestemme præcist, hvilken trærods i denne gade Vincent lavede sit sidste kunstværk før han døde den 29. juli, 1890, i Auvers-Sur-Oise. Det var i Auvers-Sur-Oise, kunstnerlandsbyen, at Vincent tilbragte de sidste 70 dage af sit liv. Det er derfor blevet et valfartssted for Van Gogh-entusiaster. Med mere end 300.000 om året strømmer de her til landsbyen.
