St Davids Katedral ligger i St Davids, Britanniens mindste by, i amtet Pembrokeshire, nær det mest vestlige punkt i Wales.
Det monastiske fællesskab blev grundlagt af Saint David, abbed af Menevia, der døde i 589. Mellem 645 og 1097 blev fællesskabet angrebet mange gange af røvere, herunder vikingerne; men det var af sådan betydning både som et religiøst og et intellektuelt centrum, at Kong Alfred tilkaldte hjælp fra det monastiske fællesskab i St Davids til at genopbygge det intellektuelle liv i Kongeriget Wessex. Mange af biskopperne blev myrdet af røvere og bandeledere, herunder Biskop Moregenau i 999 og Biskop Abraham i 1080. Den sten, der markerede hans grav, kendt som "Abraham Stone", er indviklet udskåret med tidlige keltiske symboler og er nu udstillet permanent i Katedralens Udstilling på Porth-y-Tŵr.
