Machynlleth er en lille by i det walisiske amt Powys, henholdsvis i det traditionelle amt Montgomeryshire. Byen er en feriedestination og centrum for fåreavl. Lokalbefolkningen kalder deres by for Mach.
Machynlleth har 2.200 indbyggere og ligger i Dovey-dalen ved foden af en gruppe blødt kuperede bakker. Herfra er både regionen omkring Cadair Idris og Plynlimon-området let tilgængelige. Under opstanden fra 1400 til 1415 lod Owain Glyndŵr sig i 1404 krone i Machynlleth som prins af Wales og udpegede byen ved siden af Dolgellau og Harlech som mødesteder for det walisiske parlament i et da frit Wales. Derfor fører Machynlleth kravet om at være den egentlige historiske hovedstad i Wales. Glyndŵrs parlamentsbygning er blevet restaureret og udvidet og er i dag en del af et mindesmærke.
