Charing er en stor, for det meste landbrugsby og civil kommune i Ashford District i Kent, i det sydøstk engelsk. Det inkluderer bosætningerne Charing Heath og Westwell Leacon. Det ligger ved foden af North Downs og strækker sig op til skrænten.
Navnet Charing optræder første gang i 799 som Ciorrincg. Navnet stammer sandsynligvis fra det angelsaksiske ord cerring, som betyder en bøjning i vejen, eller det kan være fra Ceorra-ingas, som er angelsaksisk og betyder folkene fra Ceorra. Byen ligger på Pilgrimvejen fra London til Canterbury, og er en dags gang fra Canterbury. Der er et antal gamle godser beliggende omkring landsbyen, såsom Newlands og Pett Place. Byen havde et marked registreret i 1285, og en messe registreret i det femtende århundrede.
