The Goring Hotel blev åbnet af Otto Richard Goring den 2. marts 1910 og beskrev sig selv som det første hotel i verden, hvor hvert værelse havde eget badeværelse og centralvarme. I 1914 blev The Goring kommandocentrum for chefen for de allierede styrker, og der blev taget kontakt til præsident Woodrow Wilson under Første Verdenskrig fra dette hotel. I november 1917 blev det den amerikanske hærs hovedkvarter i London, da det lå ved siden af de amerikanske maritime og militære myndigheder. Hotellet blev tilbagegivet til sine ejere den 8. september 1919.
I 1919 flyttede Lady Randolph Churchill, mor til Winston Churchill, ind i The Goring Hotel. Under Anden Verdenskrig boede Fox Film på hotellet.
