Das Goring Hotel wurde am 2. März 1910 von Otto Richard Goring eröffnet und galt als das erste Hotel der Welt, in dem jedes Zimmer ein eigenes Badezimmer und Zentralheizung hatte. 1914 wurde das Goring zum Kommandostand des Oberbefehlshabers der Alliierten Kräfte, und der Kontakt zum Präsidenten Woodrow Wilson während des Ersten Weltkriegs wurde von diesem Hotel aus hergestellt. Im November 1917 wurde es das Hauptquartier der US-Armee in London, da es in der Nähe der amerikanischen Marine- und Militärbehörden lag. Das Hotel wurde am 8. September 1919 an seine Eigentümer zurückgegeben.
1919 zog Lady Randolph Churchill, die Mutter von Winston Churchill, in das Goring Hotel ein. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wohnte die Fox Film Company im Hotel.
