Kalamáta er den næstmest folkerige by på Peloponnes-halvøen, efter Patras, i det sydlige Grækenland og den største by i den homonyme administrative region. Som hovedstad og hovedhavn i Messenia regionalenheden ligger den langs Nedon-floden ved begyndelsen af den Messeniske Bugt.
Folketællingen i 2011 registrerede 69.849 indbyggere for den større Kalamata Kommune, hvoraf 62.409 boede i den kommunale enhed Kalamata, og 54.567 i selve byen. Kalamata er kendt som landet for Kalamatianos-dansen og Kalamata-oliverne.
