De berømte petroglyffer fra den lille, men historiske landsby Asfolytis er knyttet til en særegen mand: Michalis Roussos. Han boede i Asfontylitis i første halvdel af det 20. århundrede. Som handicappet kunne han ikke let bevæge sig med sin stol på de smalle og rodede labyrintiske gader i bosættelsen. Så mens han ventede i flere timer på, at hans slægtninge skulle afslutte deres arbejde, brugte han sin tid på at lave petroglyffer med en hammer og en mejsel. Og du finder disse overalt. Men især her, nær vandcisternerne. For her mødte han folk, der stoppede for at drikke noget vand og dele oplysninger, som Michaelis brugte til at lave nye tegninger.
