Dooniver ligger på den østlige kyst af Achill Island. Omgivende landsbyer inkluderer Askill, The Valley: Tóin an tSeanbhaile og Bunnacurry. Byområdet Dooniver er opdelt i en række underafsnit, herunder Bullsmouth, Claddagh, Dooniver, The Brae, Baile na locha, Dionn, Áird Mhór, New Road og Sebastopol.
