Aquileia er en gammel romersk by i Italien, ved hovedet af Adriaterhavet ved kanten af lagunerne, cirka 10 kilometer fra havet, ved floden Natiso, hvis løb har ændret sig noget siden romertiden. I dag er byen lille, men den var stor og fremtrædende i klassisk antikvitet som en af verdens største byer med en befolkning på 100.000 i det 2. århundrede e.Kr. og er et af de vigtigste arkæologiske steder i Norditalien. I sen antikvitet var byen den første by på den italienske halvø, der blev plyndret af Attila den Hun.
