Sulmona, eller som det hed i antikken Sulmo, er en lille by beliggende i Midtitalien, 120 kilometer fra hovedstaden Rom. En del af kommunens område ligger inden for grænserne af nationalparken Majella.
Sulmona ligger på det punkt, hvor floderne Vella og Gizio mødes. Det var en af de vigtigste byer for samnerne, der befolkede området for omkring 2500 år siden. Dette samfund er desuden fødestedet for den berømte klassiske forfatter Publius Ovidius Naso.
