Venedig er en by i den nordlige del af Italien, hovedstaden i regionen Veneto og i den navnlig metropolitanske by. Befolkningen er 266.181 indbyggere, i en kommune på 421 km² hvoraf byen Mestre, på fastlandet, og øerne Murano, Burano og andre mindre øer er afhængige. Den grænser op til kommunerne Campagna Lupia, Cavallino-Treporti, Chioggia, Jesolo, Marcon, Martellago, Mira, Mogliano Veneto, Musile di Piave, Quarto d'Altino, Scorzè og Spinea.
