Furstendømmet Monaco er en dværgstat ved Middelhavet, som er helt omgivet af Frankrig på landjorden. Monaco har et areal på 2,02 km² og er efter Vatikanstaten det mindste land i verden. Det har 38.000 indbyggere, hvilket gør det til den tættest befolkede uafhængige stat i verden.
Monaco blev grundlagt den 8. januar 1297. Selvom Monaco er helt omgivet af Frankrig, som er medlem af EU, er Monaco ikke medlem. Det har dog euroen som valuta.
