Bergse Voorplas er en af de to vejs fugle, som kendes som Bergse Plassen. Plasserne opstod ved tørvudvinding i det 17. og 18. århundrede. Mellem For- og Bagpladsen ligger en smal stribe med den middelalderlige forbindelsesvej mellem Rotterdam og Hillegersberg, Straatweg. Plasserne er forbundet af en kort kanal. De fungerer som afløbsvand for de omkringliggende marker. Vandet pumpes delvist via floden Rotte til Nieuwe Maas. Ved Prinsenmolenpad og Terbregse Rechter Rottekade ligger der to vandmøller til dette formål.
