Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel) er en by i kommunen Zuidplas ved den vestlige bred af Hollandsche IJssel, cirka ti kilometer nordøst for Rotterdam. Indtil 1. januar 2010 var det en selvstændig kommune i provinsen Zuid-Holland og havde dengang 21.648 indbyggere. I dette område ligger det laveste punkt i Holland, 6,76 meter under NAP nær andedammen ved Derde Tochtweg.
