Forskolen blev grundlagt i 1553 af Hid Hero Jelbethdr. På en manneristisk gavlsten afbildes en kvindefigur, der slukker ild i syndernes flammer. Fra 1660 stammer skulpturen over en lille port. I 1865 blev den gamle hovedbygning erstattet efter design af L. Levoir af en bygning udført i eklektiske former med underetage, attik og midterrisalit med kvist. I 1875-1877 blev en fløj fra 1808 заменet ifølge planer af H. Bouma. I 1951 og 1978 blev det tidligere børnehjem ombygget.
