På Ginkelse Heide går en fåreflok på cirka 160 får. Ved fårehuset er der et skånselsområde til at sende drager op. I dette område ligger også en lille lufthavn, som benyttes af to modelflyklubber, og der er udstedt en tilladelse til dette. Den 17. september 1944 fandt der allierede luftlandinger sted på Ginkelse Heide som en del af Operation Market Garden. Luftlandingerne bliver årligt mindet ved Airborne monumentet ved den forlængede Arnhemsevej, i højden af fårehuset.
