En la Ginkelse Heide se encuentra un rebaño de aproximadamente 160 ovejas. Junto al cobertizo de las ovejas hay una zona de tolerancia para lanzar cometas. En esta área también hay un pequeño aeropuerto que es utilizado por dos clubes de aviación de modelos, para el cual se ha otorgado un permiso. El 17 de septiembre de 1944, se llevaron a cabo aterrizajes aéreos aliados en la Ginkelse Heide en el marco de la Operación Market Garden. Los aterrizajes aéreos se conmemoran anualment en el monumento Airborne en la Verlengde Arnhemseweg, a la altura del cobertizo de las ovejas.
