Allerede i middelalderen havde Ossendrecht et kapel, der lå oven på skrænten ved Brabantse Wal. Fra 1648-1796 var denne kirke i protestantisk eje, hvorefter den kom tilbage til katolikkerne. Gudstjenesten blev fra 1801 igen varetaget af Sognet i Hoogerheide. De reformerte fik omkring 1810 deres egen kirke. I 1842 skjulte Ossendrecht sig som en selvstændig sogn fra Hoogerheide.
