Arbejdet ved Waalse Wetering er en del af den Nye Hollandske Vandlinje og blev bygget mellem 1875 og 1878.
Arbejdet ved Waalse Wetering ligger på øen Schalkwijk øst for Tull og 't Waal på et højere beliggende område i landskabet. Ved oversvømmelse ville der være en smal strækning land, der knap ville komme under vand mellem bymidten af Schalkwijk og Tull og 't Waal. Den potentielle fjende ville kunne passere den Nye Hollandske Vandlinje via denne strømrug.
