Området blev delt i to ved anlæggelsen af Nordervandet. Den sydlige del, som i dag forvaltes af Statsskovene, er en rest af Peel. Fordi tørven blev gravet ud til torvproduktion, er der opstået et vandrigt område.
Den nordlige del af området blev omdannet til erhvervsområde. I 2011 blev der udført et naturkompensationsprojekt i området, hvor der tidligere var et moseområde, og der blev anlagt en sø på 100 x 180 meter samt en skov.
