Dette første viadukt, der blev bygget i Zeeuws Vlaanderen, blev til for at bevare Graaf Jansdijk på stedet og give frit løb til jernbanelinjen (54) Mechelen-Terneuzen, som allerede blev anlagt i 1871. Viaduktet fra 1912 med smedejerns balustrader er et tidligt eksempel på nyttebyggeri med armeret beton og har siden 2005 været anset som et industrielt monument. Under broen står et mindesmærke i form af en jernbaneovergang, som også er et hvilepunkt på vandreruten Sporpad.
