Questo primo viadotto costruito in Fiandra Zelanda serviva a mantenere il Graaf Jansdijk sul posto e
a dare spazio alla linea ferroviaria (54) Mechelen-Terneuzen che fu già costruita nel 1871.
Il viadotto del 1912 con balaustre in ferro battuto è un esempio precoce di
costruzione di utilità in calcestruzzo armato e dal 2005 è considerato un monumento industriale.
Sotto il ponte si trova un monumento commemorativo a forma di passaggio a livello ferroviario, che è anche un punto di sosta sul percorso di camminata
