Dette tårn danner sammen med den høje fyrtårn i Westkapelle en lyslinje. Hvis en skipper holder lysene fra disse to tårne i én linje, sejler han uden problemer til og gennem Østgatten. Dette fyrtårn er det første runde jernstøbt tårn i Nederlandene. At lave segmenterne til et rundt tårn var sværere end til et kantet tårn, fordi de forme, hvori jernet blev støbt, skulle laves i hånden af træ.
