Praia de Mira ligger ved Atlanterhavet og en efterfølgende lagune. Det er badebyen i kommunen, som ligger 7 km fra kommunens hovedby Mira.
Siden 1812 er Praia de Mira nævnt som et sted med faste boliger for lokale fiskere. Indtil 1960'erne er stort set alle de oprindelige, traditionelle træbygninger blevet erstattet af de nuværende stenhus, bortset fra kapellet og det nuværende museum i byen.
