Aveiro er en by og kommune i det navngivne portugisiske distrikt Aveiro. Kommunen har et samlet areal på 200 km² og havde 78.450 indbyggere i 2011. Byen Aveiro er hovedbyen i kommunen med ca. 50.000 indbyggere. Aveiro ligger ved indsøen Ria de Aveiro og gennemskæres af flere kanaler. Derfor kaldes byen også for Venezias portugisiske udgave og har et let hollandsk præg. Gondolerne i kanalerne kaldes moliceiro'er og blev ofte brugt til at indsamle tang. Byen er også kendt for det havsalt, der udvindes der.
