Navnet Five Points stammer fra de fem hjørner på dette kryds. Nabolaget optræder i bogen The Gangs of New York af Herbert Asbury, der blev offentliggjort i 1928.
I 1970'erne inspirerede bogen instruktøren Martin Scorsese til at lave en film sat i The Points, hvilket han opnåede med 2002’s Gangs of New York.
I 1842 foretog Charles Dickens sin første rejse til Amerika og besøgte dette sted.
