Die Marktgemeinde Pöllau mit 5958 Einwohnern befindet sich im Gerichtsbezirk Fürstenfeld und im politischen Bezirk Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in der Steiermark . Sie ist der Hauptort des Naturparks Pöllauer Tal.Im Rahmen der steiermärkischen Gemeindestrukturreform ist die Gemeinde seit 2015 mit den Gemeinden Rabenwald, Saifen-Boden, Schönegg bei Pöllau und Sonnhofen zusammengeschlossen,und führt den Namen Marktgemeinde Pöllau weiter. Grundlage dafür ist das Steiermärkische Gemeindestrukturreformgesetz – StGsrG.
