Poppel ist ein Dorf/Teilgemeinde der Gemeinde Ravels. Es hat 3750 Einwohner (Stand Ende 2005) und das Dorf grenzt an die Niederlande. Ein großer Teil der Bevölkerung von Poppel besteht aus Einwanderern aus den Niederlanden.
Es gibt eine Kirche mit einem Turm aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Poppel war früher eine eigenständige Gemeinde, die zur Gemeinde Ravels hinzugefügt wurde. An diese Eigenständigkeit erinnert noch das monumentale ehemalige Gemeindehaus aus dem Jahr 1908.
Zur ehemaligen Gemeinde gehörte auch der Weiler Nieuwkerk, der in den Wäldern an der Grenze zu den Niederlanden liegt und dessen Existenz einer Grenzkirche zu verdanken ist, die dort 1652 für die Pfarrei von Goirle erbaut wurde.
