Namur ist die Hauptstadt der Wallonischen Region und der gleichnamigen Provinz und außerdem römisch-katholischer Bischofssitz sowie Universitätsstadt .Namur liegt an der Einmündung der Sambre in die Maas, etwa 65 Kilometer südöstlich der belgischen Hauptstadt Brüssel.
