Guillaume Lambert, der belgische Ingenieur und Professor für Bergbau an der Katholischen Universität Löwen, der ein treibender Faktor bei der Erschließung der Kempen-Kohle war, wurde am 6. April 1818 im Dorf Grand-Halleux geboren.
Guillaume Lambert entdeckte auch die Quelle des mineralhaltigen Wassers Bru wieder, dessen Nutzung von den Mönchen der Abtei Stavelot zur Zeit der Französischen Revolution eingestellt worden war.
