Vosselare ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Ostflandern und ein Teilgemeinde von Deinze. Das Dorf liegt am Schipdonkkanaal und schließt an Nevele selbst an, dessen Dorfzentrum sich auf der anderen Seite des Kanals befindet. Der Name wurde erstmals im Jahr 694 in einem Jahrbuch der Sint-Pietersabdij von Gent erwähnt und erneut im Jahr 802. Später wird das Dorf als 'Voslariensis ecclesiae', Vurslar, Vorselar, Furselare, Vurselaer, Vorselaer, Vursselare, Vorslaer, Vurselare und Vosselare erstmals 1650 erwähnt. Verschiedene Bedeutungen werden dem Namen gegeben. Wahrscheinlich stammt der Name von 'Vurst' und 'Laar' und bedeutet 'ein offener leerer oder wilder Ort in einem Wald'. Es kann auch 'unbebaute Fläche, bewachsen mit Stechginster' bedeuten.
