Zandvoorde ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Westflandern. Es war bis zur Fusion mit Ostende am 1. Januar 1971 eine selbständige Gemeinde. Das Dorf liegt in De Polders, etwas mehr als drei Kilometer südöstlich des Stadtzentrums von Ostende. Der Name Zandvoorde setzt sich aus den alten Begriffen „sand“ und „furdu“ zusammen, was einen sandigen, durchquerbaren Ort bedeutet, eine Furth. Im Mittelalter gab es noch wenig Rechtschreibregeln, weshalb in alten Dokumenten verschiedene Schreibweisen des Ortsnamens vorkommen:
