Der Ort wird dort auch Reetveerdegem genannt.
Im Jahr 2009 wurde darüber ein Film von dem flämischen Regisseur Felix Van Groeningen gedreht.
Es bietet einen kontroversen und rohen Blick auf die Gesellschaft in der Gemeinde durch die Brille des Autors, der dafür den Publikumspreis des De Gouden Uil Literaturpreises erhielt.
