Im Jahr 1466 wurden Einwohner von Dinant paarweise in die Maas geworfen als Strafmaßnahme von Karl dem Kühnen, dem Herzog von Burgund. Dies geschah, nachdem er die Stadt erobert hatte und Rache für die Beleidigungen nehmen wollte, die er erlitten hatte. Etwa 800 Bürger wurden paarweise gefesselt in die Maas gestoßen.
Als sie flussabwärts in der Nähe von Bovignes die Ufer erklimmen wollten, stießen die Einwohner von Bouvignes sie erneut in die Maas.
