Mortier ist ein Stadtteil der belgischen Gemeinde Blegny. Mortier liegt in der wallonischen Provinz Lüttich und war bis zum 1. Januar 1977 eine eigenständige Gemeinde. Die Herrschaft Mortier war seit jeher ein karolingisches Besitz. Im 10. Jahrhundert gelangte sie an das Kollegiatstift St. Mariä Himmelfahrt zu Aachen, das den Vormund, faktisch den Herrn, einsetzte. Dies blieb bis zur Lütticher Revolution Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts so. Mortier wurde Teil des Grafen von Dalhem. Der erste bekannte Vormund war Renier Coye, der dieses Amt zu Beginn des 14. Jahrhunderts ausübte. 1557 kam Mortier an den König von Spanien und 1686 verkaufte dieser das Vormundschaft wieder.
