Der älteste Baum Belgiens, eine Limburgische Eiche, steht auf dem Privatgelände des Schlosses von Hex. Die Eiche 'Charles-Henry' soll 800 bis 900 Jahre alt sein.
Vor fünfzig Jahren fand der Vater von Graf d'Ursel von Hex Knöpfe von Kleidung auf der Innenseite des Baumes. Nach einer Untersuchung stellte sich heraus, dass die Knöpfe von einem 'sansculotte', einem ärmeren Soldaten aus der Französischen Revolution, stammten. Wahrscheinlich desertierte der Mann und dachte, er könnte seine Kleidung im Baum verstecken.
Die meisten Menschen glauben, dass die sogenannte 'tausendjährige Eiche' von Lummen die älteste ist, aber das ist ein Missverständnis. Dieser Baum ist zwar auch schon einige Jahre alt, aber er ist kaum halb so alt wie 'Charles-Henry'.
