El árbol más antiguo de Bélgica, un roble de Limburgo, se encuentra en el dominio privado del castillo de Hex. El roble 'Charles-Henry' tendría entre 800 y 900 años.
Hace cincuenta años, el padre del conde d'Ursel de Hex encontró botones de ropa en el interior del árbol. Tras una investigación, se descubrió que los botones provenían de un 'sansculotte', un soldado más pobre de la Revolución Francesa. Probablemente, el hombre desertó y pensó en esconder su ropa en el árbol.
La mayoría de las personas piensa que el llamado 'roble milenario' de Lummen es el más antiguo, pero eso es un malentendido. Ese árbol también tiene algunos años, pero apenas tiene la mitad de la edad de 'Charles-Henry'.
