Le plus vieil arbre de Belgique, un chêne du Limbourg, se trouve sur le domaine privé du château de Hex. Le chêne 'Charles-Henry' aurait 800 à 900 ans.
Il y a cinquante ans, le père du comte d’Ursel de Hex trouva des boutons de vêtements à l’intérieur de l’arbre. Après examen, les boutons se sont avérés être ceux d’une « sans-culotte », un soldat plus pauvre de la Révolution française. L’homme a probablement déserté et a pensé qu’il cachait ses vêtements dans l’arbre.
La plupart des gens pensent que le soi-disant « chêne millénaire » de Lummen est le plus ancien, mais c’est un malentendu. Cet arbre existe également depuis quelques années, mais il est à peine deux fois moins vieux que 'Charles-Henry'.
