Alle Wohnungen von Heppeneert wurden entlang der Westseite des Maasdijk errichtet. Ende 1990 wurde auf einem Feld das größte Axtdepot aus der Endphase der Bronzezeit (8. Jahrhundert vor Christus) in Belgien ausgegraben. Der Fund in Heppeneert umfasste 47 Äxte und eine bronzene Speerspitze. Die König-Baudouin-Stiftung hat es 1992 erworben.
