Toutes les habitations de Heppeneert ont été construites le long du côté ouest de la Maasdijk. Fin 1990, le plus grand dépôt de haches de la phase terminale de l'âge du bronze (8e siècle avant J.-C.) en Belgique a été découvert dans un champ. La découverte à Heppeneert contenait 47 haches et une pointe de lance en bronze. La Fondation Roi Baudouin l'a achetée en 1992.
