Alle woningen van Heppeneert zijn langs de westzijde van de Maasdijk gebouwd. Eind 1990 werd op een akker het grootste bijlendepot uit de eindfase van het bronstijdperk (8e eeuw voor Christus) in België opgegraven. De vondst in Heppeneert bevatte 47 bijlen en één bronzen lanspunt. De Koning Boudewijnstichting heeft het in 1992 aangekocht.
